The way you should see em...
When they are too shiny, they are always suspect, and notice how the elegance of the blade is long and finely done....has age, from storage through time, and you will see wear where the hanger rubs on the cross guard. No doubt, and if you leave it alone it will retain 95% of full value ....even with the cracked handle...problem is holding back the desire to mess with things ....I have one very similar , and same maker , but am not where the photos are at the moment. Congratulation for a great woodwork find, thats the way we all need to shop, but you get only one or two deals like that a year if you work hard at it.....but its worth it and the feeling is much different than just buying messed with stuff from high priced dealers , and that takes 0 skill...kudos, and keep up the hunt .
