Got these a few days back from 2nd ID Vet Family and thought I would show what some daggers look like when they come "out of the woodwork". Not cleaned or buffed up. These are exactly as I got them. Twin Haenel SA's with 100% burnishing underneath a coating of drying/dried Cosmoline. The scabbards are top with nearly all the lacquer & anondizing. Original 3 piece hangers.
Haenel has about the best quality, wood and crossguard fit I have seen in daggers. Oh yes, there was a Helbig DLV Flyer's Knife. Other than the scuff to the grip, very nice condition. Should have seen the looks we got in Starbucks when I was inspecting them!
Yes, the seller's knew what they had and researched them well, so I paid what they were worth The son told me his father said very little about his wartime experience, but recalls him saying they were picked up in Czechoslovakia.
