Chained 36 SS with marked blade

Guys this dagger came in this way from vets wife. Im curious for explaination how this can happen if the 36 model was ALWAYS unmarked?

Sometimes the original SS man owner of the dagger put the dagger and scabbard together for whatever reason. It looks like they have been together for a long time.They are both in the same condition which is also good.It does make a hard sell when the time comes.
