    H J Fake ?

I have recently seen this HJ Knife, which I think may be a fake. If it is a fake, then it is the first that I have seen with an unlipped scabbard. I would welcome opinions on it. I attach some pics.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

I am not a fan, does the diamond 'click' when you press on it? the HJ symbol looks cheap...its hard to tell from that photo though. Lets see what some of the other fellows have to say.

I must take this opportunity to say that many people might think me a bit of an idiot for posting this item. It has no RZM markings and I suppose that most people, like me would give it a miss. The reason that I posted it was that it was advrtised as an authentic period piece by a well known firm of auctioneers in a specialist militaria auction, and so I wondered, could I be wrong.
                Thanks,
                Peter.

                  i would pass

                  Hey Peter,

It's a dagger I would pass on. The rostfrei was in use on more post war daggers.

It's better to post the item and ask opinions if you are in doubt of an item than to be the idiot that spends his money first and then posts the item only to get the bad news after his money is long gone. There is always another good item just around the corner for every missed item.

Thanks petopoint, ValhallaMilitaria, Gefolgschaft, Mike and militarymania. With apologies for the delay in replying, but I've been away from the computer for a while. You have all echoed my own sentiments, which is why I was reluctant to purchase it but coiuldn't believe that a well known firm of auctioneers running a specialist miloitary auction could be so wrong. It is not unusual to find general auctioneers making mistakes like this, but specialist military ones definatately should not. thanks everyone for your replies and I am glad that I decided to post it rather than purchase it.
Funnily enough, I was at a militaria fair yesterday where I saw another HJ knife in the correct non-lipped scabbard, but without any markings at all on the blade. The blade was exactly the correct size and shape, and everything else seemed to be in order. The dealer was selling it as a period piece, but I gave it a miss.
                            Thanks,
                            Peter.
