You should know the full story. On another thread I stated I feel these are real but do not buy or sell them because of the controversy. I call items like this "real but not sellable" Rohm seems to omit part of what I have said and did not want to tell the full story. How can you engage with that? To each their own and yes, a friend did say he wanted to buy one because of seeing both sides of this thread.
Secondly, all that Rohm brought up was old information that was argued already, why do it again and get no-where? Especially when someone does not tell an accurate story!

like i said i various other topics, since the first blood in the Pacific against the Japanese forces (mainly Guadalcanal, Summer 1942), fakes and fantasy items were spread over US forces due to the high demand. In various books about the Pacific campaign, it is stated that the "poor" sailors were the first to be fooled (unable to visit most of the battle zones) by fakes done with the help of American-Japanese members of the Armed forces (especially bogus Japanese flags).
On Guadalcanal, regulations had to be done due to the fact that "souvenir/relic hunters" were killed by booby traps.
Not counting the fact that in Germany, various units "fighted" to get the right to "liberate" (aka loot) famous locations (Berghof is the best example, Frenchs vs. Americans).
So i can't understand why it would be surprising to see fakes produced right after the last bullet was fired to satisfy the demand. Even if the DJ knive is ridiculously ugly and is probably far more modern than sellers will admit.

The militaria market is like modern/contemporary art : you need to satisfy the demand. Fakes (available in enough copies but not too much to keep the market high) + bogus/illogical stories are here to please the wallet of the crook and the psychosis of the collector.

      See You

I have met at least two vets years back who made souvenirs for US vets, both were in the Pacific Theater. Both made or embellished flags by copying kanji from laundry tags, tuna cans and more. I also have a pilots badge that was bought on a hotel buy. It was made from parts a couple of years after the war. It was put together for a guy who received his pilot certification and his friends wanted to present him with a badge. There are many known daggers made as souvenirs for the GI market, they are all known for what they are. These knives have been bought by way too many people over the years with no connection.
Again, I am not a full time military dealer anymore so I don't give a crap what you buy from me. The knife I am selling won't pay for a brake pad on my Ferrari or any other car I have! So it really doe me no good besides my personal experiences.

            Hi,

You still haven't said why you think they are real so it isn't really "old information that was argued already". A member was kicked off the forum for asking you to explain that word but even now that he has gone you still seem unwilling to go there.

Whatever we think of the style of his question it was not without grounds. My account is now also close to being banned simply for passing comment on the manner of Röhm1929's dismissal so I will not comment on that again but I would like to know what you mean by real.

The whole point of this thread is to find evidence for or against these knives and I don't see how simply claiming that they are real is helping anyone.

              Gary M,
What kind of deceit are you up to, you are working in the same style as Rohm. You have involved in this thread for a very long time and I as well as others have answered this question many times. Are you trying to bait me into something? Being direct and honest will get you much further with me!
So, if you have something new and constructive to ask, please do. Otherwise, go through and read the previous 24 pages of this thread, just in case you have forgotten what has been discussed previously(which I doubt).
              Thanks,

                Hi,

The thread where you stated that these small DJ knives are real is recent. It is more recent than most, if not all, of your posts in this thread and after having gone through all 24 pages again today I do not see where you gave an explanation for why you think they are real. Yes, you mentioned private-purchase, not issued which is fine but there are two types of this knife: one with and one without scabbard diamond. A version without diamond can be shown to have existed in the TR although not as a DJ knife (or BDM). The version with diamond cannot be shown to have existed during the period. Which of those two types of the small knife do you consider to be the real one? That is all I would like to know and it appears to be all that the expelled member wanted to know. A quick precis of your opinion on the knives would be great. If you prefer you can just post a link to the post or posts where you made your position clear. Thanks.

                  Gary,
Good luck to ya, perhaps your comprehension is not that good. Several of us have given our explanations so don't buy one and we are all happy!

Still needing to do a complete reorganization of the information I've collected, I came across another "maker variant" of the aluminum hilted "DJ" pattern small knives. This one a "Puma" that I might have some more pictures of - it seems to me that not only have they been in production for a long time, there are probably multiple makers judging by the construction standards. High bids versus low bids depending on which batch is being made for the collector market? FP

My advice to you would be to not SELL these knives. Then we'll all be even happier.

I am going to assume that the reason you refused to answer that simple question in my previous post is because you have at least one in your inventory with scabbard diamond. Good luck Bob.

A question for the HJ specialists (which I am not). Am I correct in believing that the legitimate period HJ knives made by Puma also had a "GES. GESCHÜTZT" underneath their logo? FP

                          Hi FP,

Thank you. Well ................ mistakes happen, so it's time to get rid of that batch. Maybe the next time whomever is having these aluminum small knives manufactured will insistent that they have the necessary "product improvements" and hope that no one remembers the earlier versions. This proves you have not read even the last couple of pages, what deceptive game are you playing? Or are you Rohm as well? You two write and debate in a very similar fashion.

I'm not Rohm. He was killed. There is no deception here, certainly not on my part. On pages 22, 23 and 24 you said one thing directly about the knife: that they were not "issue pieces". Am I missing something here? Which knife was not an issue piece Bob? The one with, or the one without scabbard diamond? It really is a such a simple question but it has dragged on for pages now and has so far resulted in one member ban, 10 infraction points for me and zero progress.

If you don't want to answer the question please just say so and then stop directing posts at me.
