Butcher Bayonet and Frog

Hello All,
I am not an edged weapon guy but this came along with some 2nd War badges.
Am I correct in assuming this bayonet is called the 'Butcher bayonet'?
The frog is a little hardened and there is some light surface rusting on the handle.
Has anyone any advice of how to clean it up for display?
The blade looks okay with no rust so I am guessing a squirt of WD40 will be fine.

yes a lovely butcher blade... dont use wd40 but wee wipe on blade with some oil. i personally would not clean at the handle it looks just fine for display

A nice S98/05 nA(neu-art =new pattern),the term 'Butcher' really applies to the sawback version,which the British propaganda made it a "typical example of Teutonic barbarity".They can be addictive though.John

Thanks for the advice bigian, I will just swipe the blade with oil.
Collecter that is a nice collection of bayonets my office display may get bigger

"Butcher blade" refers to the shape of the blade (wider toward the tip), not the character of the people carrying it.
