Finding a Gov't Official's dagger like that in the rough would make my year.

          Dagger

I hear you on that , this is my first one . It has been monkeyed with by the vet , he took the dagger apart and never put the end nut cap back by instead epoxed it up with jb weld also the chromed the blade on both daggers , he did a good job of it too . I wish it were untouched but it is not , it is also lacking the metal plate that sits between the simulated grips in the inside of the handle . one of the straps has come undone but that is an easy fix . The Lft rig is awesome but he did chrome that blade too. It is a tiger and has a great fake ivory grip with excellent grain and tight metal wind around the grip . A scarce and desirable luft dagger that i have never owned before . I am still waiting for the Vets granddaughter to call me on one other dagger . I have seen lots of stuff chromed by vets but have never had any ive found until now . You called it JR ... Alcoso !

We're only the caretakers and have no control on how an item was stored, used, or abused. None the less, that is what it is.

Chromed pieces are not at all unheard of...I still have a bayonet given to me when I was a kid by an uncle who brought it home from the ETO, and he'd chrome plated the scabbard at some point after the war to "pretty it up"..Remember, this stuff was literally junk back in the day. I don't think very much thought was given by the vets to the future potential value of their old war souvenirs back then. The best pieces tend to always be the ones that were simply tucked away and forgotten about for decades. Still, chromed or not, NICE find!
