Exploring the great US, landed in SLC - LOTS of bubbarized rifles and fake badges.
I came across a white handled (ceramic material not ivory) Kriegsmarine dagger, with hanger and buckle.
It is good condition, there is a dent in the sheath two inches from the bottom, on the front.
The blade is excellent condition (Elckhorn Solingen on ricasso), and overall very good, the hanger has some wear, the black satin/silk material is a little frayed.
The story is the old boy, German is selling it as his grandfather's whom he loathed, has a price of $1200 - no negotiation.
I like the design of the blade a lot, and think it would look good in my collection (I am not a seller, just a buyer), I cannot find much information on these, and wonder if this is a good price.
One on GB - repeat auction at $1500ish - cannot find listings for any realized prices.
Any thoughts would be appreciated?
Pit.
