Opinions on my new Luftwaffe 2nd model by Alcoso

    Hey guys,
I picked up this 2nd model Luftwaffe dagger over the weekend. It is a late-war Alcoso blade I believe. It looks good to me, other than being a bit grubby. I'd like your thoughts on whether it's an original WW2 Luft dagger or not. Also, I was thinking of disassembling the dagger and cleaning up the crossguard a bit with soapy water and a toothbrush to remove some of the grime. Is that a bad idea?

    Thanks,
    BrianH

VERY nice and correct Alcoso Luft! As you say it is a later era dagger in very nice shape! The fittings don't look dirty or soiled in your pics. Do not try to remove any of the dark burnishing on the fittings, it was factory applied and very desirable... Kevin.

              Beautiful dagger there
I wouldn't be very aggressive in cleaning.....

              Regards,
              Frank

                  Thanks guys

I got a really good price on this baby too so I'm feeling really good about this one. This is my FIRST Luft dagger BTW. Been wanting one for years. Thanks for the good feedback and I WON'T be trying to clean it in any way. I just thought they were all made to be shiny and didn't realize some had a dark finish like this one does. Interesting...

Nice looking rig with a great blade; final maker's mark used by Alcoso. As to cleaning, I would leave as is...however,
if you can't resist brush lightly with a shaving brush.

                      Brian,
It's beautiful. I really like the darkness, it gives it great contrast.

That is a really very nice condition Alcoso that looks perfect just as it is. Whatever you do don not clean it and do not try to disassemble it.

The plaster filled grip could easily break if you try to remove!

I really like it and wish I had one so nice and untouched.
