Army NCO dress bayonet with portepee on estand

I wish to place this up for opinions requested by a buyer. I believe this is an untouched dress bayonet as it came from a reliable friend/collector many years ago and would like your opinions about if the blade leather washer is original?

I like the overall look of this bayo very much, but I am not sure if the leather washer wasn´t replaced...
This one looks to me a bit thinner and with rough edges, if compared to others in my collection. But this is just my feeling and I would be very happy for comments from other collectors.

I agree with Alain. It looks fine. As for the buffer being replaced, hard to say but that is not a show stopper. If in doubt just advertise it as having been replaced. To most guys it's not a big deal.

I doubt this washer was replaced looking at my other dress bayonet (long version) as they are very clearly similar. don't think people realise these Macro pictures are close zoomed in shots as washer is about 1mm thick. For members to reply with sound reasoning please take a macro picture to compare their Eickhorn dress bayonet. May I ask why "show stopper" was mentioned adding to negative reply being offensive.

I would like to know reasons why from these pictures taking into account that washer is 1mm thick reasons this is a replacement??

I think that what is being said above is that this is a great looking dress bayonet with a washer that looks very nice, almost like new. No matter whether the washer is original or not, the value and the collectability of this item lies in the blade and the condition of the total dagger and scabbard.

I cannot tell if the washer is original or a replacement, but it doesn't matter. This is a very nice, but very common dress bayonet. Eickhorns with this maker mark are the most commonly found dress bayonets.

IMO the leather washer is not an original one. The edges are bright like new leather and frayed.
