1st Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger

Can anyone tell me why there are some of these 1st pattern that are German Silver fittings and others that are made of all aluminum ? I have both and just wondered. I assume the Aluminum ones were a second try at the dagger and then it was re-designed. Thanks, BB

Actually you have the nickel silver ones that were produced first........... the pot metal ones next........ and lastly the aluminum ones. As the availability of metals became restricted and not available to the dagger manufactures, the composition of the construction of these daggers changed.
