    Opinions needed on bayonet.

I would be grateful for opinions on this bayonet, which is puported to be WWII German, but has no Waffenamt markings and is marked by a maker who I am not familiar with. I attach some pics.
    Thanks,
    Peter.

        Certainly looks real to me.

Probably had more markings before it got severely polished.

Elite-Diamantwerke AG,Siegmar-Schonau bei Chemnitz, found on pre war bayonets,it is a commercial trade mark,so maybe an export bayonet.I got this info from John Walters three letter code book. The military versions from the K98 registry bare S codes.John

            Hello

This bayonet made by "Elite Diamant" is not a commercial bayonet but a sdandard issue bayonet. This marking was used from 1937 to 1941 on K98 bayonets. Before 1937 it was S/185 and during 1941 it changed for the letter code "I". 1941 is last year of production for "elite Diamant".
Look at this website and you will find all you need about this marking : http://k98.free.fr/

            Regards
            Alain

              Thanks Richie, John and Alain,
I had not come across this mark before and will check out your links John and your website Alain.
Because of its poor condition and lack of scabbard I would not think it was worth very much, about £35 would you think?
              Peter.

                Hi Peter

I think it has a very low value because of its poor condition. I think about £15/20 to keep spare parts.
                Regards
                Alain
