    My new etched bayonet

Straight from a local estate sale. Comments appreciated. Unfortunately I may have to sell it. Can't keep it all.
Can anyone tell me what kind of knot this is?

          Hi,

The knot is for a Fireman bayonet.

So this knot does not really belong on this bayonet?

Im not sure about this one, why is an Eickhorn etch on a K&Moog bayo? also the edges do not end as other Eick etches I have seen.

For refernce this particular etch (3219) is pictured on militarycollectiblesinc here:

                      Sturmbrigade:

You have hit the nail on the head.

I don't think that Eickhorn sold their etches to other manufacturers. So, a poor Eick etch on a non-Eick marked blade... to me that is a non starter.

Tell me if you need more pics or something, but this one has outstanding provenance. I got it directly from the estate of a vet. It has never been in a collectors hands before.

Couple o better pics of eagles and oak leaves on the bottom middle of the etch might help, but according to Waynes Techet's book on etched bayo's K&Moog didnt manufacture an etch pattern and Eickhorn (with the exception of distributors) didnt provide their etches to other manufacturers

Even though it's an Eickhorn etch, I wouldn't want to dismiss this.

Harry, can you get better photos of the etch without reflection and the edges are clear? The less angle (distortion) of the blade in the photo the better, thanks.

Agreed, please get some better resolution & clearer pictures of the blade etch & maybe the grip plates with rivets (both sides). What John Z. says has merit in that Eickhorn was very proprietary about their etch patterns & not known for selling their etched pieces to anyone except distributors. That said, we all know "never say never" so better pictures will probably tell the tale.
