Early SA - Kober

Whats your opinion on this one? I got it from the estand and recieved it today.

In my opinion its definately worth the 600$ but I dont have much experience in SA daggers.

...so I have som questions ,,,,,

1. If I where to clean this dagger what products should I use and where can I get them in Europe?

2. Where all the Kober handles laquered?

3. The handle have a very sharp corners when I compared it to my SMF dagger witch have more smoothed corners. (se pictures) is this typical for this maker ?

4. These ridges that you see from the wood beeing thicker than the crossguard I have seen on pleny of daggers is there any problem with this? My SMF dagger dont have this ridge if you get what I mean. Look at pictures in post #2

I am glad it made it there and she looks as good as the day I mailed it off. What do you think of the golden tarnish in my opinion that's what made it stand out to me.

This is 100% original Kober with typical Kober handle. SMF and Kober are totally different pair of shoes. All Suhl based makers have very special handle and crossguards shape, so no worries

777 Has addressed most of your concerns, you may use 'semichrome' made by Happich in Germany to polish/clean the nickel fittings, use care around the wood parts, use it very sparingly or not at all on the blade, in fact try not to touch the blade at all with regards to cleaning. Also wipe off your fingerprints as the acids in your skin oils will eventually take their toll on the blade. Nice Kober there and a fair price for it.

777@Great to hear! I actualy have your book so I was aware of the special Suhl design feature with the low step between wood & crossguard.

I like that there is no gap between the wood and crossguard as you can see on my choice of the SMF dagger, this is not exactly the case on every dagger you see.

I must say thats some very impressive blades you have there Ralf!

and till the next revision of the book might I sugest that you add a little index so you can easily find difrent makers within the book?

@ MA02093 - Regarding the golden tarnish I think it might be nicotin but I might be wrong?

Thats a good idea, the yellowing is most likely nicotine, will look so much better polished but kudos to Alex for not doing that, some guys like to leave em' as they find em'.
