I don't like the scabbard. The incised lines should only be on the front side of the scabbard.

      regards, Bill

Thats not right, there are Custom Daggers with this incised line on the back, made from Weyersberg (only one I know where made this) and incised on scabbards with aluminium and steel fittings. But there are also Weyersberg daggers without the incised Line on the back.

Maybe the scabbard was changed? Or Weyersberg sold some of them to other producers? Who knows????

        Greetings Rieny

I like it and yes Pack DID make a Custom's Dagger as I know a veteran who has one and I can't get him to part with it. Very hard maker to find and without seeing in the hand it looks good to me.

It would be helpful to see a closeup of the scabbard suspension bands. If the holes for the rings is drilled off center it is a reproduction.

If this one proves to be ok, any ideas on the value? Hard to compare it with other's i've found on the net, no Pack amongst them...
Thanks so far for the interesting comments

Well i don't know much about this type of dagger by Pack (hence this post) but when i compare it with other custom daggers (other makers tho) offered on dealer sites etc i think it looks ok. It's been offered by a person i know and who has a very decent reputation as a dealer here in Belgium, he's not soft on his prices but he's known for selling good quality daggers. I know pictures don't show everything and i haven't had the dagger in hand yet so i'd like to be prepared when i meet him in januari... Also want to make sure he doesn't charge too much for it IF i decide to buy it.

Looks like the holes are off-center to me.

Indeed, but the person posting that comment hasn't replied yet so i'd like to hear his comment about it. I've compared the drillholes with other custom daggers offerd on various sites and to me they look alike Off-center can be horizontal or vertical, or both... Anyway i have passed on this dagger but i hope this post will give some clear answers after all.

                        And a merry xmas!

I would not want this dagger in my collection. The scabbard bands and the throat opening are not what I would want to see in this type of dagger. There were quite a few parts daggers constructed like this back in the 1960s. I think you were wise to pass it up.

I'm someone that likes odd makers so something like this would certainly have appealed to me as well as Tom. I guess the tough thing in terms of such a potentially rare item is there just isn't the vast array of similar examples to compare it to, leaving one wondering if it's good or bad. On this one, I don't know that the scabbard fittings would have put me off but the scabbard throat was something that I really didn't like.

                            George,

I hadn't heard of the uncentered scabbard band holes before, many thanks for that. Would you say this is a parts piece cobbled together or more of an outright fake?

                              Billy,

I suspect that it is an old parts dagger but one would almost have to hold it in hand to tell since it would have some 50 years of age now. Some of these were put together from old NOS parts from various Solingen concerns along with some newly made bits and pieces. I have seen similar Zoll scabbards that were made with non-magnetic fiberglass scabbard bodies covered with leather because there were no old metal parts available. Most of these Frankenstein daggers were made by Jim Atwood and others in the 1960s.
