Etched Eickhorn bayonet question!

Gentlemen, i need your help. I could have this long etched Eickhirn bayonet. There is no scabbard with it, the crossguard has a few bubbles.

First question: Is it surely original?
And second how much should i pay for it?

I don't believe this bayonet has been photo etched at all, it looks completely period. By the condition of the hilt plating, I'd suggest this is a later period production piece which might explain the fact the etch is sloppy, for an Eickhorn that is. Most Eicks I see are neater in terms of the finer details but this one looks still within acceptable limits.

As to what you should pay, I wouldn't buy it. It's not worth much considering the hilt condition, the fact it's missing the scabbard & that the etch is generic & sloppy at that. IMHO I'd say you should save your money for a better conditioned piece. They're out there & sometimes at reasonably prices. Just stick with a reputable seller.

I´ve got it for free. It was in family´s possesion from the end of the WWII until yesterday.

Well the price was certainly right. It's also worth more to a collector IMHO because of the acquisition directly from a vet's family. Well done, now you just need to find it a scabbard.
