      In a word, Pass.
The eagle looks to be nickel, on most RZM's these were aluminium. This is a sign to look closer. The blade is the heart of any dagger. This one is pitted badly. Crossguards are pitted and the plating is lost. Scabbard is pitted and rusted too. Might be ok for gardening...
Suggest you spend a bit more and get yourself a nice early maker marked piece. Early SA's are a great investment.

        Hi Ken,

if I were you i'd pass. This is by far not a good dagger.Save your money for a nice piece and maybe you will pay a bit more but you won't regret it later. If you buy this now you will probably end up trying to sell it later...to buy another, more mint example. Save yourself the trouble and skip that step...

        Cheers,

        BUDGI

Well, I'd bet it's 100% original - do the screws or nut show signs of being turned? If not, then it's probably just like it was in 1945. There's something to be said for an item that shows alot of age - collectors generally avoid it and it would be difficult to get rid of if you ever wanted to upgrade, but if the price is REALLY right then buy it.

On the other hand, mint examples are nice, but I've seen alot of mint examples that have been diddled with to make them mint.

It might be unmessed with but at the end of the day it's still a rough dagger, and I mean rough. Little to commend it aside from its 'unmessed' with state.

I'd go with Paul and Budgi on this one: save up your cash and buy a decent one, pre-RZM and as close to mint as possible. Then, not only will you have a fine looking example of the SA dagger but a guaranteed investment winner too.

            All the best,
            Toby.
