    P. Weyersberg 2 pattern LW dagger

    Dear Dagger friends,

Although I take a regular look at your nice forum I think this is my first post here.

I really would appreciate your valued opinion on a second pattern luft dagger I'm want to buy.

I'm not really planning on starting to collect daggers but my interest in the III Reich was most likely triggered by a dagger that was given to me by my father when I was 12. It was a heer dagger (marked P. Weyersberg) without hanger or portepee that once was given to my aunt by a German officer retreating out of Belgium.(at least that's the family story)

In the meantime I was able to complete it but it's still lying arround very much on it's own. I always thought it would be nice to have a WH/KM/and LW dagger for display purposes with my awards.

A couple of weeks ago I found a second pattern luftwaffe dagger by the same maker "P.Weyersberger" as my heer dagger. So at the moment I really would like to buy it but since my knowledge on daggers is very limited I would very much appreciate some expert input.

    Thanks in advance
    KR
    Philippe

Hi Philippe, the dagger is a nice original example. It is interesting that is Luftwaffe proof marked.

                    Cheers, Ade.

A nice original dagger. What's interesting is that it looks like Paul Weyersberg may have sometimes secured parts from SMF as they are known for the aluminum scabbard fittings.

                        Thanks guys,

Larry if I understand you correctly those aluminium scabbard fitting are original to the dagger and not replacements?

Philippe, the scabbard bands appear to be absolutely original. Some of the smaller dagger manufacturers often purchased parts from the larger ones. The scabbard you show appears to have the natural aluminum finished bands that were a trademank of the SMF company. I found it interesting because they were one of my favorite Luftwaffe dagger manufacturers. I don't see any problems with your dagger at all.

                            Thanks Larry,

Ordered it yesterday and got confirmation only to receive a second e-mail 10 minutes later to tell me that it was sold weeks ago. They forgot removing it from the site .

So I'm in for another search but al teast I know what to look for now.
