How does this dress Bayonet Look

Hi all. Please let me know if this bayonet looks original, and what the knot represents.

    Thanks
    Charlie

      Your knot can be Infantry-Battalion 2-Company 6
      or artillery-Unit 2-Battery 5
I am not an expert in this so let see what other people say.

I agree. Also in the mix is the 5th horse artillery and artillery instruction regiments plus the 7th rifle regiments.

          Thanks for all the help.
I have a few more questions...
          1) Is this a rare Knot?
          2) Should it have a felt in the lug channel? What color?
          3) What is the value of this set?

          Thanks
          Charlie

            Hi, Charlie !

            1) I don´t think so, (why it should ?)
            2) If there was no felt in, when you purchased the bayo, I´d leave it like that.
(usually you can find the red coloured felt with the Extra-Seitengewehr).
            3) What ever anybody want´s to pay for it ...

Eick is IMO the maker, (together with WKC), who manufactured most of the German dress bayonets.

The condition of your knife is superb, congrat´s !

BTW, I like this kind of blade, the so-called "Karabiner-Klinge", ("carbine-blade").

            Rgds.,

            R.

Regarding the colours of the knot:

              this means:

6th Coy of an Infantry-Regiment, also:
5th Battery of an Artillery-Regiment, also, Artilllery Instruction-Regiment, also:
              5th Battery of an (horse)-mounted Artillery-Regiment, also:
              7th Coy of an rifles´s-Regiment, (Schützen-Regiment)

                Is the Carbine-Blade rare?
What rank would wear this set-up?
I appreciate all the information and comments.

                Thanks
                Charlie

I do not believe, that the "carbine-blade" is more rare than the "common"-moulded" blade.

The "Extra-Seitengewehr" was worn by low(er) ranks, up to NCO´s.

The set was a direct vet family purchase, and is excellent condition. Any idea of market value? (It is not for sale, just curious)

                    Thanks

As I hinted before, there´s not a "pegged value" for such item´s !

Mr. Jones maybe want´s to pay 94.67 Buck´s, Mr. Smith maybe 157,62 Buck´s, Mr. Allenby maybe ...

If your bayonet is in an absolutely unaltered condition and the scabbard is also quite OK, I´d say for myselfe: 130,-- Euro´s and not one single Cent more ...

                      P.S.:
                      Austrian price-structure !

Since this dress bayonet is nearly complete (just the felt plug missing) and in pretty good condition, I would see it around $180, max. $200 US. As Reibert-Austria said ... it always depends if there´s an interested buyer.

As a reference ... I bought this one (dress bayonet plus troddel) for $175 since it´s my favourite maker.

                          Nice

You have a very nice short dress bayonet there. It is by no means rare in any way, but the condition is great. I would be happy to have a piece like that in my collection.

It must be an Aesculap, (or a Pack), doubtless, (regard the screws, instead the rivets !).

As I know you, it must be an Aesculap for sure, am I right ? ...
