    How to tie a Portepee?

    Hi fellow members,

    Received a beautiful portepee from Frank & I was wondering what will be the right way to tie it & how do I go about doing it. Thanks guys.

    Which dagger will it be for, i.e. Army, Navy, Luft. etc.?

          Dear Wunhur,

            Toughest knot to tie is the Navy, particularly with the thick rope type portepee. One little trick I learned was to tie it backwards. What I mean is to thread the thin top part of the rope rather than trying to force that bulky crown through all those twists and turns. Try it next time and save yourself some grief.

              Keel in mind that they come in different lengths. It's really tough to tie a navy reef knot with a Luft portepee!

                Here's a line drawing that may help

                OK, so this was supposed to be my first posting and I have been defeated by the picture posting devils. Can someone tell me the secret to post pictures on this forum?

                  At the bottom of the Reply window, there is a button marked "Manage Attachments" under the heading "Attach Files". Click on the button, browse your files and attach the picture file just klike you would attach a file to an e-mail.
