Hello I have a pre ww1 Kgl. Bayer. 1. Chevaulegers-Regt. Kaiser Nikolaus von Rußland
with burgundy Regimental facing color Sword, it has rust in it's blade and scarab. My question would be: How do I remove these rust spots from the etched blade and from the scabarb without damaging nor scratching the blade? Which products to use? How to clean it. Is there a proper technique? Would you use flitz cleaner?
I went to ace hardware and they recommended NEVER DULL (a mild antique cleaner), I decided to wait and ask the community.
After cleaning what should I do to maintain the sword in good condition?
Since the sword is so rare and entrusted to my care, for I'm it's 3 caretaker, I must make no mistakes while cleaning it. Thank you in advance for your help.
