    Thoughts on this Navy dagger...

    Hi Gents,
I have this nice Navy dagger, with a plain unetched blade marked by WKC. I've never seen knurled scabbard rings like these before...can anyone tell me about this feature?

    Cheers,
    Arran.

Yes, a very nice original dagger with correctly tied portepee. The hammered scabbard and rope rings are a very nice and not so common. The plain blade is much less common than the etched variety as well.

Nice piece, I have the exact same piece with that kind of scabbard and those rings. But yours has a great patina on it.

Your dagger is very possibly a 1st model with the 2nd model conversion to the eagle pommel. The style of scabbard appears to be the earlier style judging from the bands and the "rope rings". Very nice dagger indeed. Do you have a pic of the maker mark?

                Nice one.
I have a Weyersberg with hammered rings and a loose set of rings I
got from Tom Johnson years ago.
Its not often seen in this configuration.

Nice piece - the plain blade is rarer but unfortunately less desirable
