Reason why I ask this is because I currently know little to nothing about daggers. I have just seen this one in an auction amongst mostly 18th century stuff and I am curious of it's originality. According to the auction house about $1,000-$2,500.

Is there a maker mark on the blade reverse? SS daggers are frequently faked. Besides outright fakes there are many that are made up of parts pieces for the collectors' market which, as you can imagine would dramatically affect the value of a purchase. I recognize the picture type so I have a pretty good idea what auction house you're referring to but in general, auction houses in general are known for hawking pieces with questionable veracity & more importantly little recourse for a buyer.
The point I'm making is if you're unfamiliar with SS daggers it might be a good idea to stick with a reputable dealer as a seller. The alternative is risking getting burned to the tune of a lot of money. -
They claim that the blade is marked RZM 1198/40 SS. SS Daggers aren't exactly in my area of interest but I was just curious since I'll probally be heading up to the auction anyway out of interest for a few 18th century pieces.Comment

It would help if we could see the placement of the whole motto on the whole length of the blade and the maker mark placement. Often a bad one has the motto dead center on the length of the blade while the real ones had it closer to the crossguard...for one example. These pictures so far look OK but not enough info to make a good call for you.
