MAL...very nice display there but I worry about keeping the blades in their scabbards. I'm afraid you might get a nasty surprise someday when you pull one out and disscover a problem with the blade.

Thanks to Wags/LH600/Scott and Bob for you kind comments. Yes wags the GO dagger is in nice condition by Alcoso, one of my prize possessions.
Bob can you please let me know the problems in keeping the dagger in the scabbard, I normally frame my best daggers for display and will be doing it with my two best SS next but I do have many more left in the scabbard and would like to now the dangers.

            Best

              Daggers

              Stunning displays you have Mal,

              Love those groupings

I think the concern about leaving the daggers in the scabbards is one whereby and dirt/moisture inside the scabbard can settle on the blade causing it to deteriorate. This is not going to happen overnight though and I would not worry about it too much. I like to wipe the blades in my collection with a cloth now and again that has a little WD40 on it.

              Best wishes,
              Ian

                Thanks Ian

I did think of using a good wax on the blades but they all seem to be keeping well, here is a few more that I have that I try to keep untouched.

                Regards
                Mal

Hi MAL. While there seems to be some controversy over the "in/out" storage/display of edged weapons I feel that being able to monitor the condition of the blades on a daily basis will lessen the chance for any discoloration or staining. Ian addressed my concerns about in scabbard storage. However. the other side of the coin is that I recently got two daggers...an SA and a SS that had been in their scabbards since the end of the war with no trace of staining to the blades. They were stored here in Michigan where it is fairly dry so that may have been what saved them. Some folks geet good results from use of "Ren wax" You can google it to get more info.

                  Best, Bob

                      Thanks Again Bob and Kai

The room there in is always good and dry, but I will try and get some of that wax. I appreciate the advice, it's always hard to now what to do for the best with these items.

                      Cheers
                      Mal
