    Luft etched bayo opinions

    Hello:

My first post here and I love this forum. I have posted this bayo under German daggers and like I suspected the wood grips and rivets are replacements. Could anyone tell me if the etch is real or a reproduction? The tips of the luft eagle are clipped and along with the wood grips this raised some red flags for me. Any comments?

                    Richard,
Looks like a Eickhorn 3219-Luft etched pattern but i'm no expert, looking at Wayne Techet's book (page 121) i see no problems, the border at the top and bottom look textbook and the etching i see no flaws common to repro's, i'd venture my bucks toward's it. So for what it's worth looks good to me but again i'm no expert and would wait until a knowldegable member chimes in.
My i suggest buying Wayne's book (German Etched Dress Bayonets) if you plan on collecting these it's worth the couple of bucks, it will save you lots down the road in hard cash and piece of mind it's worth every penny. His email is www.VonRyansExpress.com , send him a email and get his advice.
                    Good Luck!
