SS portepee???

Greetings: I recently acquired this portepee that I thought might be police. I posted it on that forum and was suggested that I post it on this forum as Dave Cameron(moderator) could not recognize it.It appears to be mint, unnissued and still has a small packaging wire wrapped around the attaching straps that I assume was to hold them secure during shipping. This is not my field of collecting, but it came as a package deal from an estate sale. Any comments, information or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I can't find a knot with a black crown in any of my reference books. Maybe some of the bayonet guys can help, but it doesn't look SS to me.

I have the same portepee bought off ebay some time ago. You see these all over the place now, usually in "unissued" condition for anywhere from $60 to $300+. Always listed as "Rare SS" and some story to go with it. They're nice looking, but personally I think they are all post-war designed and manufactured.
