Pumpkin Heer... whatcha think?

Just picked this up from a local antique store for $318. I know its denazified but at least it came with goodies. Plus I know you can't see it here but the scabbard is in very nice condition and has no dents or dings.

What do you think, should I have passed for that price or did I do ok?

Hello K98:

Did you do OK?
The blade and crossguard are shot.
With a beater blade like that, what you have is a collection of parts.
I can't tell the condition of the hangers and portepee from the images posted. (The port looks like it might be a little thread bare.)

If the parts are in pretty good shape, it works out roughly like this...

Deluxe Hangers = $ 170
Portepee = $ 90
Scabbard = $ 225
Pommel = $ 30
Ferrule = $ 20
Grip = $ 45
_______
Total = $ 580

Bare in mind that these prices are greatly influenced by condition.

The hangers are actually in pretty good condition, but the pommel is kinda thread bare.

Question though, as bad as the blade looks in the shots I'm wondering if a cleaning wouldn't do wonders for it. Most the marks seem as if they could simply whipe clean... is that a good idea?

Anyway, from what it sounds like I could at least get my money back from it (maybe a little more if I'm lucky?) so I guess I'm happy. It was something of an impulse buy since I don't find Third Reich stuff in my local shops much.

I think you can get your money back from parting it out. The blade and cross-guard are ruined and all the "Flitz" or "semi-chrome" in the world won't change it. The other parts look better than average.
