John, you have what appears to be an original E. Pack & Sohn SS Dagger. Can't tell for sure from the photos whether it's nickel silver or plated. Since it's an RZM piece, my guess would be plated. The only problem I see is that most purist dagger collectors don't like their pieces cleaned. Overall a nice catch.

For an RZM piece, there seems to be really nice crossguard to grip fitting, always great to see. Good crossgraining too. The only kink I saw was the tapping dents on the pommel nut, but not a terrible detraction and easily replaceable if it bothers you at all.

I agree with Snigley that dagger purists are put off by a dagger that's bright and shiny, but you seem to have gotten yourself a nice piece. Good luck with it.

Certainly looks okay to me.

I'm afraid I'll have to make it unanimous by voicing my preference for uncleaned daggers but, having said that, congratulations on your purchase. At the end of the day, the "cleaned vs. uncleaned" issue is really just a matter of personal preference. I would be willing to bet that years from now you'll still remember that dagger as your first SS edged weapon purchase.
