'New' Sawback

Hi,
I have a thing for Sawbacks, scored this baby yesterday. A Carbine length Dress Bayonet, maker marked with the Knights head, WKC I think from memory correct me here if Im wrong. Anyhow its not too bad but upon closer inspection probably not a keeper. Handle has had a repair which I didnt notice when I first came across it though I was told. What era would this be?. All my other sawbacks I know are WW1 or earlier. This type was for Firemen I have been told any information appreciated.

I have a prussian court sword with an engraved dedication with the same WKC knights head MM. The dedication is dated from the late 20's to very early 30's from what I remember. I'm going off memory right now as I don't have the sword handy- It's packed away at another location.

Robert, this is a WW2 firemans dress bayonet. The sawback on these is appropriate and not that often seen. The makers mark is the one usually seen on this makers bayonets. The damaged grip plate is unfortunate, it looks like someone pounded on the rivets to tighten up the grip, resulting in the crack.

Ja, a pretty fine Extra-Seitengewehr !

This kind of a blank-weapon was produced in two blade-lengths and they´re also used in the Feuerschutz-Polizei.

This Extra-Seitengewehr was also named "Faschinenmesser der Feuerwehr".

In my collection there´s a "Tiger-Solingen", (Lauterjung & Co, Tiger- Stahlwaren u. Waffenfabrik, Solingen), "Sawback" in near mint condition.

This one is from the early 1930s by that WKC TM. WWII issue ones would have the WKC letters below the TM for late 1930s to early 1940s. The crossguard would also be slightly different in curve and the blade would have been a little thinner from the back edge view. The scabbard would also be a little different in that the plate below the frog stud is not found on TR pieces by WKC. This is an early trait from the late 1920s to early 1930s.
