    Help with Judging SS Dagger...

    Thanks again

The SS dagger is not original. The SS grip insignia is wrong and it has a leather buffer pad. That's two of many problems it has

It's so bad its laughable. If you want to start collecting these, buy some books! I don't say that in a mean way, but really, SS daggers start upwards of 3000.00 for a decent one. That's an awful lot of your money to throw down only because you trust other people's opinions. If someone here slips and calls a parts piece, or worse, OK...well guess who gets the shaft? Like in most antique-collecting areas these days, buyer beware.

      Best,
      Josh

b_vanfossen if you even need to ask that question about that photo then you are NOT ready to buy one. Buy a reference book first... preferably Wittmann's.

Seller (Paul Hogle) is a member of WAF and a safe person to deal with.

          Regards,

I thought the lower crossguard looked off, and I knw the thing around the lower cross guard and where the blade meet where not right.

I just wanted conformation on it.

            thanks

I like the black handled Luft dagger; the top piece. Must be a some sort of Luft funeral dagger . Wait a minute, perhaps its for the Waffen SS division of pilots. The Flieger-Schutzstaffel der Luftwaffe

Hey, at least the 98 with the frog looks legit.

Wittmann's reference is a MUST. Search many many posts as well. You'll be super glad you did.

No need to be hard with the guy. He is a new member, lets just not discourage people. We all had to start somewhere.
