    Question to the Forum?

I am looking to buy a Carl Eickhorn Prince Eugen Saber. Could the forum recommend some dealer’s, who sell swords , and who are honest.

    Thanks, for your help, Peter

Bill Shea of the Ruptured Duck is honest and an all around good guy. He is currently selling two Prinz Eugens at the moment.

    Best,
    Josh

Witmann has a few as well. The Eugen is tricky. Due to the composition of the hilts basemetal, you may be challenged to find one with a nice original gilt finish on 'em. They are also subject to the nasty zinc bug. You can shop it, but I suspect for a decent example you're going to spend something in the neighborholld of $900-1100. I bought mine some time back on the cheap due to it's condition. I knew with a little work, some cleaning magic and tricks I was able to bring up to a reasonably displayable standard. Just an FYI, I don't know if i'd by the whole Waffen SS thing either. We had a dicussion on it a few months back on another forum, and many respectable collectors are of the opnion that the theory is nonsense. To date, I belive only 1 has been photographed in wear in period photos. I know some collectors who claim to have come accross some direct vet acquired complete with a correct degen type SS knot. My jury is still out on the theory. Angolia is attributed with starting this theory.

Just and FYI. If you want a few more Eugen pointers, email or PM me. I have handled a number of them and have seen them in varying conditions.

Check Bill Shea, Tom Witmann, Johnson. Those 3 typically have a pretty good inventory, but expect to spend a few dollars more from the bigger names.

To tell you the truth it doesn’t have be a Eugen, I just like the Carl Eickhorn Saber’s. The reason is not only do I collect Third Reich era, but I also collect anything to do with Squirrels, and the Eickhorn logo is a Squirrel. If it not to much trouble could someone give me Tom Witmann’s web site, if he has one.

        Thanks, Peter

If you're not particular about which model Eickhorn you want, you should be able to find a decent example without much trouble. Eickhorn, WKC, and Alcoso and Holler are the most abundant manufactured sabers and as such, make up the majority of sabers on the market today. If keeping an open mind for an Eickhorn, you will have a variety of dealers and sellers to choose from. Just an FYI. Barry provided you above with Witmanns url where you'll find many examples, some on consignment. I'm in the market for a very specific model Eickhorn roon. Accordingly, my options for buying it are very limited.
