Help with Alcosa Diplomatic Dagger

It would be nice to see some more photos but from what I see it looks like a good diplo. the grip color looks correct and the blade logo "Alcoso" is one of the two known makers of these daggers. These pieces are numbered on all the parts of the dagger itself. Most are hidden. You need a special spanner wrench to take it apart.I don't recommend this to anyone that does not know what they are doing. Anyway, based on wghat I see I believe it is OK.

It looks good so far.
Please post the close up of the tang nut.
If you have not already done so, do not disassemble this dagger. Most damage to these daggers in is done during disassembly. If you need to found out if it's matching send it to Tom Wittmann. They will do it right.

Is it a Govt. Official or Diplomat? Which way is the head of the eagle turned on the crossguard?

It's a diplomatic dagger the both eagles are looking the same way. What about the screw on the scabbard, I have not seen one before in the front rather than the side.

That is a Government Offical dagger. Diplomatic have the crossguard eagle head turned opposite of the Pommel head.

Single scabbard screw indicates a later production. The Alcoso makers motto is also for "late" produced blades - mid 1940 to 42.

Your right my apologies it is a Government Official dagger I always get them mixed up, would this be a harder dagger to find than the Diplomatic type.

The diplomatic dagger is much rarer and costs about 50% to 100% more than a government model. However your dagger is a nicely burnished example of a well made Government "Alcoso". Congrats!

MAL, Pricing on these is tricky. Only because if a seller tries to sell it he can only seem to get much less than a dealer does. At least that's my experience.
Most collectors now hate to quote a price due to that "discrepancy" on this type of item.
Maybe if you ask what is it worth if I put it on e-stand? To see what dealers ask for them visit Tom Johnson's or Tom Wittmann's site.
Or, maybe you can state, if you wish. "I paid $..... for it. What do you think about that price?"
It seems whenever I quote a price, I get "bashed". It seems to happen to other guys here too.

Ok, all that being said, If you put it on e-stand. Taking in that it is a later,
but fine example of an "Alcoso" with some slight honest wear and no distractions outside of the typical slight "tang nut" buggering.......$5,000 to $5,700.

Thanks again Wagner, I appreciate you sticking your neck out to give me a ruff evaluating, it was just that I have an idea of price on the early models but wondered how much difference it was to the later ones.

I am of to Berlin on Wednesday for the first time, can anyone please let me now the best places to visit, ww2 historic sites, places to buy militaria, best flee markets, Rochus Misch address even, I would love to meat him.
