    My collection SG 42 bayonet

Here a orginal bayonet SG 42 for the German M 98 carbine.

Germans made this knife for close combat knife and use on the rifle.

tools inside the grip section. Very fine patent. But clumsy during the war...

The bayonet was made in very small numbers and sent out too troops in the Eastfront. Small Numbers made of this type SG 42.

The SG 42 is ultra rare today & all-metal 3rd version is even more ultra rare than the other 2 models 1 & 2.

COF marked blade and WaA marked 519 on blade below gripsection.

    Ltk
marked tool ( ltk is robert Klaas)

SG 42 is made in 3 variations. My type SG is model 2.

sg42 bayonet of the 2nd type with the rocker arm type of locking device.

Nice looking bayo. That went to the sturmgewehr didn't it? It sort of reminds me of the kalashnikov bayo

Hi T, no, these were just for the standard K98. The Sturmgewehr did not accept a bayonet.

                    Cheers, Ade.

Ahh, I see. Not a bayo collector, not an antique rifle collector either.

Like the old cliche goes, we learn something everyday.

                            SG 42 Bayonet

                            For your interest, Gentlemen:

The SG 42 bayonet was revived in 1957, slightly modified, for use on the US Armalite rifle used by the Dutch Army. Later supplies of these bayonets and rifles were sold on to the Sudan.

The bayonet is near identical to the original issue, but finished in brown, with the cranked belt loop now being straight, and some re-arrangement to the tools contained in the grip.

This photo is from the book: The Bayonet - an Evolution and History. (published 1984).

                              That´s correct, Ade !
The MP43, MP43/1 and the MP44 didn´t accept the 84/98III bayonet, the previous model´s, the MKb42(H) and the MKb42(W), (Maschinenkarabiner 42 from Haenel and Walther), actually did !
