    Hunting Dagger Opinions

    Hello,

I find myself outside my collecting interest again though I never turn down an opportunity to purchase anything WWII related.

Today I was offered this Hunting dagger as a result of a pennysaver add. So before I dive in with both feet I was looking for opinions on this hunting dagger GOOD or BAD. If it is original what would a fair offer be or approximate value.

    Any help/opinions are appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Steve

                Steve,

You show a decent condition Hunting Dagger. It is either Imperial or Weimar era as there are three acorns ( one is missing) instead of the TR era DJ stag and swastika emblem on the grip. The trademark is for the Clemen & Jung. firm of Solingen.

While nice, the dagger you show is not the delux version nor is it a TR era piece. These just do not bring the bigger dollars that a TR era piece will. IMO somewhere in the range of $ 350- 550 would be fair. Maybe a little more or a little less depending on how the actual condition looks in hand.

                Hope this helps.

                Tony

                  Hi Tony,

I really appreciate your reply. This is the kind of information I was looking for. I completely overlooked the fact that is was pre-TR era which does make a big difference.

                  More information/opinions are welcome.

                  Thanks,
                  Steve

I would agree with Tony completely, in my opinion it is a late Weimar piece, it has an etch that is also commonly seen on WKC hirschfängers and other makers. Shame about the acorn, those are very difficult to find, value in my opinion would be nearer the higher figure and a tad more if it had all the acorns.

                      Cheers

                      Gary

I now own this dagger and posted a couple better pictures, but still not the greatest pics.

Anyhow, opinions and mint buckles for trade welcome

                        Thanks,
