Are all fittings nickel-silver? From the photos, it almost looks like some are aluminum and some are nickel-silver. Let us know what all parts are made of ie. scabard throat, drag, sword pomel, crossguar.

In that case, i'd say you've got yourself a winner. Good conditioned Fliegerschwerts are becoming hard to find.

No wafamt markings. Personal purchase. Nice conditioned. The early nickel-silver ini great condition are mush more sought after I believe.

              Congrats.

I initially had the same thought as Swordfish, but as it's N/S you've got yourself a nice example. As for finding a hanger, the Holy Grail would be an easier quest!! I've been looking for months with no luck.

It most certainly is a early solid nickel. NICE!!

I'd say its been cleaned along the way. Nice saber.

I mistook some parts as being aluminum while other fittings silver-nickel. It must be the photos.

At any rate, be sure to protect your Morrocan leather on the scabbard and grip. This will be the 1st to deteorate over time. I'd keep it in a moderate environment and apply a coat of museum grade wax to the grip and scabbard.

I hate to be the bearer of more bad news, but finding the hanger is only half the battle. The hanger on the Fliegerschwert was actually "made" on (i.e., sewn to) the scabbard rings and, as such, is not easily removeable or replaceable:

A side shot which, hopefully, better illustrates what I'm talking about.

Very true. And it is usually marked. If you want the complete enchilada, then its gonna' be an uphill battle as Skip pointed out. But for display purposes, it should work just fine. They're getting harder and harder to find in great condition, school and wafamt marked, etc. Accordingly, the price on 'em has gone nuts. I'm glad I bought mine when I did. As a saber collector, you HAVE to have one in the collection.

Something else I want to point out, from my experience, the flyers sword can be termperntal. Environment, etc play apart in maintaining the condition on them. They are much more fragile than thier heer counterparts. Most of my heer sabels, have stood the test of time magnificently, where as many of the lufts, are falling apart.
