Have you tried posting the number on the forum, as there are many collectors who have the SS officer lists and additional SS numbers.

I presume you have been down this 'freebie' path before going down the fee paying route as it can be relatively expensive.

Arney sent me the number and I identified the original recipient from my source material

So if you are reading this and have a numbered dagger and want to start the research process, I would advocate posting the number on the individual research forum and trying their first before paying a researcher to get a name for you.

You never know, it may bring a smile to your face for free

A Himmler SS dagger with just a number 8 on the cross guard?? who owned it?

is the 8 on the front of the cross guard (where the blade meets the cross guard) if so it is the bench mark for eickhorn (i belive)
