One for you dagger guys. I just picked up this 1st Luft at an antique store for a really good price. It's an SMF has a nice blade and all the fittings have taken on a rich patina. Nothing too ordinary I thought but upon closer inspection I noticed what looks like the number "33" stamped under the crossguard and the number "43" on the throat of the scabbard. Any ideas as to what these mean? Thanks for the time........RICK

Perhaps it relates to some sort of unit or property marking. Is the dagger wafampt at all? One other question: does the dagger seem to have a good fit with the scabbard or is there some space, possibly indicating a scabbard from a different 1st Luft?

No wafampt stamp on blade. Although I did have an SMF before that did have one. I guess it's possible the scabbard is a different one but the fit has a real nice in and out feel to it; no gaps at all.......RICKComment

Just as a sidenote I have a 1st pattern Luft sword with numbers on the blade and on the throat of the scabbard -- not in the same places but interesting.
