    1936 Ss

    Hello,

I'd like to know Your opinion about this dagger. It is Early Eickchorn with small logo (Ground Roehm I think). Scabbard is anodized with magnetic chain and fittings (II type). Is this normal to find early marked dagger in 1936 scabbard?

It happens from time to time, but it is generally accepted that production '36 SS daggers were void of a maker's mark or RZM mark. There are cases where vet acquired chained scabbards have maker- or RZM-marked daggers in them. Normally this would be the result of either 1.) the dagger's original recipient "upgrading" his dagger with the '36 model scabbard after being authorized to do so or 2.) a souvenir hunting GI, Tommy, etc. grabbed a chained scabbard and a dagger with a marked blade and put them together.

Either way, you will likely find yourself in the position of having to explain the combination when the time comes to sell. IMHO, hold out for one with an unmarked blade.

    Hope that helps,

This one is mine and will probably stay with me for a long time. I have found some daggers like mine. I think that "upgrading" option is more possible.

Honestly I enjoy this one because it is "all in one dagger":

      - ground off blade
      - early dagger
      - anodized scabbard
      - nice chain
      - nickel silver eagle and crossguards (marked I)

what else can I get ???

By the way I have another 1933 SS with inscription od Erich von dem Bach Zalewski. This one is cool. How many dagers like this exists ?

Looks really good. I own "no logo" M36, which in my opinion, looks very much like Eickhorn piece to me (I'm still trying to identify the maker) . What's the tang marking on yours, and is there any latin numeral on the lower crossguard in the place, where the edge of the blade meets the crossguard bottom? (mine is stamped 5 - typically Eickhorn)
It would be nice to see some photos of the blade reverse.

                Hello,

My crossguard (lower one) is stamped with "I" (roman number).

Tang of the blade is unmarked but crossguards inside are stamped HE.

Next time I will put pics of the reverse side.

Put pictures of Your piece - would be nice to look at.

                Pozdro

Here are pics of my 1933 piece with von dem Bach inscription.
Condition of the blade is as You can see but no one could force me to sell it. I know only two other daggers like this one. Finding another one is like winning a milion dollar.

Podstoli, your presentation dagger looks very interesting indeed. As we all know, there is lot of the "dedication" blades nowadays, that should be viewed with caution, but if you know what you have and it's genuine piece, then congratulations
Here are some shots of my dagger. Guards, fittings, chain and insignia made of nickle silver.
