German Naval Officer's Sword

I have a chance to buy this naval sword (unfortunately, this is the only photo that I have). Can anyone tell me anything about it? I assume it is Imperial. It has a lengthy inscription in Latin written on it's blade. I would also like to know its approximate value. Thanks in advance!

More info is needed to help you out.

A clear picture of the clamshell side of the hilt will show which country or era the sword is from. Various countries used the German style naval sword for their navies.

Who is the maker?

What is the inscription in Latin?

Not enough info for a positive ID or a valuation.

Thanks. I will get the sword in the next few weeks and take some good photos of it. Right now I only have the one photo that I posted. Thanks again and I'll post the photos as soon as possible.
