With the ready supply of nice, early SA daggers regularly available on the e-stand, from Forum Member and Dealer websites, and at shows, I am at a total loss to understand the rationale behind buying one on e-bay.

If the answer is strictly because the daggers on e-bay are cheaper remember, you get what you pay for!

Before you take my remarks out of context, let me state for the record that no one deserves to get taken by one of the countless fake-mongers who slither about on e-bay. However, knowing what a minefield the hobby is now and believing you can get a bargain on e-bay is a very dangerous path to start down.

Leave the crap on e-bay where it is!

Hello Mr. Greenwade. I agree with everything that you said above. Even when you do know what you are doing, you cannot be certain if the eBay seller wasn't trying to pull a scam.

On the other hand, one of my favorite daggers did originally come from eBay (I got it indirectly from the buyer). It was one of the early SA daggers with the pointed eagle's wings and handmade grip. On the reverse was where the Rohm inscription used to be (grounded, of course) and a very, very early Eickhorn trademark. Turns out that a very small quantity of this dagger was produced in 1933 and given to high ranking SA members. Sort of like the "granddaddy" of all SA and SS daggers that were to follow!

Credit goes to Craig Gottlieb for giving me this information and naming this the "Christmas" SA dagger.

Just had a thread showing many!

With pics taken now, there is no excuse not to look at many members
nice daggers shown!

Look at the fit and finish on them!

Just the military forums alone will show nice!

Condition and rarity of maker makes the price!

Hanger adds extra value!

No reason to get screwed on junk with all the info available!
