... in the fiction catagory.
Just finished Swastika, by Micheal Slade, the pen name for Jay Clarke and his daughter, Rebecca, Penguin Canada, 2005.
Two edged weapons are promently featured in the mayhem and murder that dominates the book. First is the SS knife. I asked for a translation of the inscription on my fake here last month, so was pleasantly surprised to see it spelled out in the book on page 58. Second is an SS sword with the same inscription.
There are many flashbacks to Germany in the closing months of WWII, including the Furhrerbunker and the V-2 construction locations. The descriptions of those places and the uniforms and weapons appear accurate and those parts of the book are worth the read.
The fictional plot is less entertaining, and contains the typical Canadian paranoia of the U.S. intelligence services, and the Canadian myth that their military/law enforcement resources are just as competent as ours.
Can anyone can recommend other books (other than non fiction lists or catalogs) with German edged weapons in WWII?
