    NSKK Eickhorn

    Hi guys
I have gust picked up a very nice Eickhorn NSKK. Maker marked and Wf marked also. It has a very nicely painted black scabbard with nickel fittings.
My question is, what colour hanging straps should I be looking at getting to complete the piece ? Brown or black?
And any directions where I can get them ?
    Richard.

The Early nickel NSKK's are painted scabbard SA daggers that were most likely issued with brown hangers. The later "official" NSKK daggers that came from the factory as NSKK's would have a black hanger with it. This is my take at least. JR

No one has really answered my initial question yet, except for JR.
Brown or black.. and would an early hanger have a makers stamp or an RB number. I guess the later hangers would have RZM markings on them ?

I agree with JR, this was originally issed as a SA with a brown hanger.
Most early nickel hangers are unmarked, some are marked but with a maker mark, (Assman, or OLC mostly) not RZM.

RE: the hanger... I agree with Lakesidetrader.

RE: Cleaning & preserving... Cleaning: use a little Simichrome on the blade if you must, keep away from the burnishing, do it by hand only, (no machines) and don't rub in one section for too long and make sure you do it evenly all over the blade. Leave the rest of the dagger alone. Preserving: use Renwax over the whole thing, yes, everywhere.
