Early Heer Officer's dagger w/nice hanger

I just picked this up today from a fella who wanted to part with it after nearly (20) years with him, and (30+) years with his grandmother. There are only (2) placed of chips in the yellow plastic grip, one at the top and the other on the bottom. Everything else is straight. It has never been cleaned, and won't be in my collection. The blade is not too dark, but not shiny either. Lots of patina on the scabbard and nickle silver. It LOOKS like it was made in the late 30's.

    What is this piece worth?

                  Army dagger.

                  Morning Robert,
Congratulations on a very nice LATE Eickhorn Army with a very nice high end hanger. It appears to be in very nice condition and is for sure a keeper. Hope that this helps.
                  Regards,
                  Dick

By 'LATE" what do you mean?

I thought the nickle-silver tang was an early model?

I'll post a photo of the tang in a moment.

                        Trademark

The Eickhorn trademark on your dagger is the late example that they used later on during the war. Sorry that I did not make myself more clear on this.
                        Regards,
                        Dick

Dick is correct in saying this is a "late" type dagger. Uses the last trademark by Eickhorn and the 4th style crossguard used by Eickhorn. Value is dependent upon condition as much as anything, but the trademark makes it difficult to find, too. I'd put a value of $750-$775 on this item from what I see.
