Hello. What are the lengths of dress bayonets? I have heard of long and short. What are the lengths?

A few other questions bellow. Combined in one post. Thanks

The description on this dagger is, "hewhite handled dagger in the brass sleave has had surface rust on it because the scabbard or what ever you would call it I think retained water ". Bad pics but what do you think about originality and worth in such bad shape?

                    Hi

Since no one has replied to your posts I'll give it a go

Ok I have no idea on the first one sorry, the second one with the white handled grip is I beleive a KM dagger, & the third I know for sure is a "pioneer" dress dagger & the knot is for a NCO.

Pioneers are relatively rare - hope that helps.

                    Regards Craig

The first one a very nice SG71/84 for parade or dress purpose. Pre WW1 item. best regards,Andy
the last one similar Extra Seitengewehr KS98 long bladed from WW2 period.

The second dagger looks like an Imperial naval dagger upgraded with a Third Reich pommel.
The 2 bayonets and the dagger look very nice.

A few random answers to your multiple queries. While I have no idea about the type of bayonet in the first set of pictures, I'm pretty sure the knot is an Imperial Bavarian knot (in very nice looking condition by the way).

Dress bayonets ususally came in 2 sizes, those with 25cm blades (long model) for enlisted men and those with 20cm blades (short model) for NCOs.

The dagger is Kriegsmarine piece in not so bad shape but you need to post better pictures of the blade. Walt is correct, the piece looks to be an Imperial model that was upgraded, possibly by the original owner. The crossguard is definitely Imperial period and it would have originally had an Imperial with crown on top. No way to tell for sure if the refitted pommel was done in the period but it's a nice looking piece from the pictures.

I don't believe the bayonet is a Pioneer piece but rather a general Heer or Luftwaffe piece, looks like a 25cm blade, definitely Third Reich period manufacture. The knot appears to have 2 strands of metallic thread which I think makes it a Heer sword knot. Does the dot underneath have grey material in it?

All look like nice pieces with some honest wear, good luck if you're picking them up.
