    Luft dagger Eickhorn

    Hi,

could these pictures belong to an original dagger from Eickhorn ? It's offered as original.

I have a few problems with this dagger. While I believe the parts are original, they are not quite right. The grip ferrel is an Army Dagger grip ferrel. I think the crossguard and pommel don't appear to be Eickhorn to me or it is a bad photo.

The 1st thing that sticks out to me is the pommel - looks BAD but hard to tell for sure without some more pictures of the details front + back + top down.

          Cheers

It could be the photos, but it looks as if the engraving on the top surface of the crossguard is absent. Were there some that didn't have this feature?

              This is one strange dagger.

The ferrel is not an army. The leaves are laurel and not oakleaves. Possibly a sword ferral but certainly not an army one.

The lack of oaks either engraved or die cast into the top of the crossguard is very strange. I have never seen a 2nd model Luft crossguard without the oaks.

The brow over the eagle's eye on the Xguard looks out of scale or something. The head and the body 'feathering' are unusual.

The pommel is not the usual heart shaped Eickhorn pattern, The pebbling or stippling behind the swastika on the pommel is also an unusual feature. It may be a WKC but first impression is that it is not.

The blade looks to be a good Eickhorn, but it's condition doesn't quite match the rest of the hilt in regards to complimentary aging.

              The grip looks fine.

As Ron mentioned above, things are 'not quite right' with this dagger.

IMO I would pass on this one as a parts dagger of indistinct vintage or originality. There are better examples of completely Eickhorn manufactured daggers readily available.

                  Dirk,
the fellow members are right .I thinks this dagger is not good .Better is to hold in hands .Perhaps you can show the blade tang.
                  Grüße.

The best path is the one that leads away from this piece.
