    Diplomatic Dagger - opinion request

    Hello folks,

I have the opportunity to purchase this one, but first I would like to hear from the knowledgable participants of this forum.

As the story goes, this one came 'out of the woodwork' awhile back. It is now in the hands of a local picker.

The Holler thermometer logo on the blade troubles me. Doesn't look quite 'right', IMO.

I apologize for the poor photos!

    All thoughts/comments/concerns are appreciated!

Sorry, but the only thing that is missing here is a clear mark 'made in china'

The Dagger is a spanish made repro,F.W. Holler did not make these daggers and they were in Solingen not Berlin, also you can tell it is spanish made by the swirl pattern on the scabbard pebbling originals will not have this.

Hi Calvin - You were right to key in on the thermometer. Although worn away, it is lacking the detailed small reference lines seen on original Hollers.

Here is a Holler Maker mark from a Luft.

                    Hi Calvin:

The grip plates should be mother-of-pearl or maybe amber. Those look like they are made of plastic.

I was not aware that Holler didn't make Diplo's, but I would take JAYP's word on it.

Just for future reference, Colorado is right. A genuine Holler maker mark should have..."More lines on the thermometer than you can count"... as the saying goes.
