Does anyone know which knife this is?

Hello, I have a question. My grandfather gave me this knife about 15 years ago. He said that it was given to him a few years after the second world war has ended. I have looked it up in books but I don't seem to find a good answer for my question. There's a skull on the lemmet. On the knife is written "alles für deutschland". Also there's a circle on it with a cross and "Hubertus Sollingen". Excuse me for my bad english and for the bad photo's. Maybe someone can give me some more information?

Tough to say what it is, it's possibly a super rare variation of an HJ knife with an SS type skull affixed to the obverse grip plate or a post 1945 piece. The possibility that it's original and pre 1945 is quite slim so I'd say it's likely a postwar piece.

I have seen several HJ knives with this shape blade but they're rare indeed. The skull doesn't go with the knife but I'd be interested to know how it's attached to the grip plate, if it's pinned then it could be factory. I can't exactly make out the maker mark but it looks like "Hubertus" which I believe is a post 1945 mark. Maybe Skip or someone else can confirm this but I'm pretty sure it's not an original 3R piece.

I couldn't tell much from the photos, but it does appear to be an HJ-type knife with a non-regulation grip insignia affixed at some point in time.

I'm assuming that there is no scabbard.

Difficult call to make with respect to originality and/or value because there may be no sure-fire way to tell when the skull was applied to the grip.

      Hope that helps,

        Hello Skip and Billy,

So there are some hj knives with this kind of shape blade? I haven't got a scabbard.

Is it normal that this knife is heavy?

It is not the typical HJ blade, but it could have been altered or this may be a different type of knife altogether. It is not a standard or regulation pattern item, making it difficult to determine originality, use, or value. There were hundreds if not thousands of private purchase boot, fighting and hunting knives produced before, during and after the war and many fall into this same category.

Sorry I can't be of more help on this one,
