    Quick question about frogs.

I have been looking lately for a genuine example of a K98 frog for my mannequin set up. However as one who doesn,t know much about them, there seems to be many different types around (black ones, brown ones, retaining strap, no strap, 4 rivets, no rivets, different stitching..... you get the picture).
Can someone enlighten me about what is correct and whats not when it comes to 3rd Reich frogs.
    Thanks guys and gals.

I’m afraid that there is no “quick” answer about German bayonet frogs. The topic would and does fill a book about the subject with the book “Bayonet Belt Frogs” by the late Anthony Carter still being the best one available.

Perhaps some specifics about the mannequin's uniform as to the approximate time period, type, associated field gear, etc. etc. would help narrow down the topic to a more manageable list of possibilities. Regards, FP

Cheers for that Frogprince. I may have some studying to do then. My mannequin is a Panzergrenadier wearing fieldgear that is dated from 1940 - 1943 so preferably nothing too late war. i,ll have a look on some sites and if its ok, then i,ll post for someones opinions regarding authenticity before purchase.

Fortunately what you are planning I think should not be too difficult to find. With those parameters I would provably suggest a standard riveted black leather frog with a tie strap. And for 1943 or later an undated “R.B. Nr.” (or "R.F. Nr.") marked frog would be acceptable as would earlier dated maker marked or coded ones. While they are found with either type - a nice touch for a soldier carrying the folding shovel would be the narrow black leather frog with a tie strap. Good Luck FP
