My First Dagger - Named Luft

I found this in a local shop. It was hanging on the wall with no price on it. We negotiated. For $300 it was mine. There is rust on the last 1.5" of the blade, but the name engraved on it closed the deal for me. Hangers and portapee too.

A bit of clarification, please?

At first I was really confused! In the first pic, the luft dagger has a cream colored grip and no gilt on the swastikas, and in the full scabbard/hangers shot, the grip appears eggyolk yellow and appears to have gilted swaz's! Is that just the lighting? If so, I am amazed how different the grip looks!

The pictures are of the same dagger. One with flash, one without. The dagger has a maker's mark. Without going downsatirs for it, I believe it was E.F. Horster. I do not think it is a distributor mark. Herbert Mettin, I think it's a name. I have no other explanation.

Hi, glad the deal went well. That was good value for money. The maker is Horster as Eric asked me for some advice before he bought the dagger. It would be nice to discover more about the name on the blade. If he was an Officer and not a senior NCO there might be a chance of finding some info.

Good value, hangers and portepee are worth half what you paid alone. Some of the gray looks deep down from what I can see of the blade. If it's surface corosion, Simichrome lightly applied would bring up the blade.
