SS k98 bayonet frog

Hi Gents!

A friend of mine asked me to help post a couple of items for your opinion! This one I am not fond of.. As I understand it SS frogs should be marked Rzm -contractnumber/ year - SS? Also a weird place to put the ss marking?

Alex, The frog and bayonet are period. But the "SS" markings are fake - the frog having the typical later "R.B. Number" markings for the Wehrmacht. A common practice for many fakers is to put bogus markings on "beater" items that would: 1) not sell to most buyers 2) and/or for a very low price. FP

I agree. Perfect original bayonet frog destroyed by putting fake SS stamp.

Yes same opinion the doubble circle SS stamp is a postwar fake, anyway the frog piece is ok, possible with steam could be the stamp carefully removed, with wood hammer on the secure strap area, not so bad. late war RBNr piece.
